The Catholic Christian community at Deva Matha Forane Church, Paisakary, under the Syro-Malabar Metropolitan Archdioceses of Thalassery, wanted an institution of higher learning for a long time for the higher education of its youth, and thus to bring about the all-round development of the region. Their long-cherished dream saw fruition under the able leadership of the then Vicar of Deva Matha Forane Church, Rev. Fr. John Mullakkara (2003-2005).
Deva Matha College, a self-financing venture and affiliated to the University of Kannur, started functioning from the Academic Year 2003–’04 in the ground floor of the now St. Thomas Block, under the visionary leadership of the Rev. Fr. John Mullakkara, the Founder-Manager. The College is situated on a hillock with a panoramic view as the site is encircled by the majestic mountain range which is part of the Western Ghats in the Payyavoor Panchayath, Kannur.
The College opened her portals to the rural youth, especially from the middle and lower strata of society with two Undergraduate Degree Programmes,

Induction ceremony of the new batch of 2021-23 was conducted under the captaincy of Arts forum. The new batch of DMC had been warmly welcomed with a lamp lightening ceremony that embodies their new pace to the world of knowledge.
moreHand Sanitizer Preparation
Under the initiative of the IQAC and Department of Chemistry, the faculty and final year students prepared hand sanitizer to fight COVID -19. The distribution was inaugurated by the Manager Rev.Fr. Sibi Palakuzhy. Sanitizer was prepared under the guidance of HoD of Chemistry, Mrs. Beena E.K., faculty members Mrs. Jisha Francis, Ms. Nice Roy, Principal Dr. M.J. Mathew, Vice Principal Mr. Tomichen E.M., IQAC Coodinator Mr. Saiju P.J. and Staff advisor Mrs. Mercy K.P. The sanitizer was made available in the office and all the departments. Depending on demands, it will be distributed to the public also.

An Intercollegiate Workshop in Graduate and Post Graduate Dissertation in English: Research and Writing was conducted on 8th November. 125 students from neighboring colleges participated in the workshop.
moreGandhi Smrithi Yathra
As part of Gandhi Jayandhi week celebrations, our college NSS unit organised Gandhi smrithi yathra and Swachh Bharath programme (cleaning of paisakary town ) on the occasion of Gandhi Jayandhi, on 2nd oct. in association with Jana Maithri police payyavoor. The programme was inaugurated by the principal Dr. M.J Mathew, flag off by K. Vinodhan S.I of police payyavoor and cleaning of paisakary town inaugurated by the ward member Binoy Alingathadathil. About 100 NSS volunteers participated in the rally and cleaning, along with the Jana Maithri police.
moreBlood Donation Camp
A blood donation camp was organised on 26/09/2019 Thursday by the college NSS unit in collaboration with district hospital Kannur. The camp was inaugurated by the principal Dr.M.J Mathew, and the medical officer Dr. Shahidha gave few instructions for the smooth conducting of the camp. It was open for all students ,so the students from all classes also came to donate their blood, in which more than 50 units of was donated by both students and the staff members. About 50 blood pouches collected were safely dispatched to the blood bank Kannur.

An awareness programme on ‘Drug Abuse among Youth’ was organized at the college as part of the Gandhi Jayanthi Week Celebrations. A senior police officer held the class effectively creating a thought among the students.

To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi this year various programmes were orgnised in the college. Dr. Khadar Mangad, former Vice Chancellor of Kannur University inaugurated the Ghandhi Jyanathi Week Celebrations. Various programmes like rallies, poster competitions, debates, lectures, quiz competitions, photo exhibitions, blood donation camp were also orgnised.
moreRelief To Flood Victims
As a compassionate gesture towards flood victims, the college NSS unit distributed food kits containing various food essential to victims of Chengalayi area. The programme was inaugurated by Sreekandapuram Municipality chairman. The CI of Sreeknadapuram, College Prinicpal, NSS program officer, NSS Voulnteers and staff participated in the programme.
