Department of Physics

Physics is a human attempt to discover the fundamental laws of nature and study how they affect the physical world around us. To be precise, it is the natural Science that studies matter, its motion and behaviour through space and time, and the related entities of energy and force. The Department is an exciting place to learn the fundamental laws of nature as what the late American Theoretical Physicist Richard Feynman (1918-1988) has said, "The greatest adventure the human mind has ever begun."

With a vision to develop a solid understanding of the fundamental principles of Physics, the Department was established in 2003. It is well-equipped with Optics and Electronics Labs. The Physics Programme at the Deva Matha has 3 main learning outcomes for students such as (i) mastery of domain knowledge in the field of Physics, (ii) depth in research methods, and (iii) proficiency in Laboratory skills. The skills one acquires by the study of Physics are sought after by employers across the occupation spectrum.
